On 5 September 2025, the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) convened the first-ever World Sexual Health Assembly (WSHA) in Porto, Portugal. More than forty organizations came together to sign the Porto Proclamation on Sexual Health, Rights, and Justice - a joint commitment to defend sexual health as integral to health, sexual rights as human rights, and sexual justice as essential for dignity and equality.
This landmark moment will shape global priorities for sexual health and rights through 2030. But what does it mean in practice?
